To relaunch KFC’s breakfast offering, we turned the morning race into an actual race, nodding at the stumbling blocks we all face on our hectic, bleary-eyed commutes. I wanted the music to feel like an actual piece we’d found in someone’s archive, so working with Marc Algranti and Pulse Music, I created the lyrics for a rootsy tour through early blues and soul crossovers that had people misassigning it to a host of artists from the time.
